Ceramics
Fort Worth, Texas
Gray started taking ceramic classes in High School, and fell in love with the medium because it helped her learn to dream. She received her degree in Ceramics and Sociology from Louisiana State University in 2009. Upon graduation, she studied ceramics at Jingdezhen Ceramics Institute in China. In 2011, she moved to Austin, Texas and started working for Sunset Canyon Pottery as production potter. Gray has taught ceramic classes in Austin at Dougherty Arts Center, Austin Pottery, The Contemporary, Mud Austin, and Feats of Clay. She has received scholarships to study ceramics at Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina and Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in Tennessee. She has gallery representation in Austin, and Grapevine and also shows her work at different art festivals throughout Texas. In May of 2022, Gray move to Fort Worth to continue her education and is in school for Occupational Therapy. It is important for Gray to maintain an active studio practice and is always evolving and making. Gray grew up in the military household, which means she moved around a lot. From the orange groves of Florida, the swamps of Georgia, to the mountains of Washington, what moved around with them was her Mom’s love of mid-nineties country kitsch. Her work is inspired by the images and designs her Mom used to decorate their many homes.
